Annie's Book Club Can Change Your Life

ANNIE’S BOOK CLUB CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
It did mine, for the better. This is a 30 year long book club with members going in and out. Our host Annie has been there from the start. I loved the comments about my memoir ROYAL ROOTS and how it resonated with so many of them as we have experienced the same education with the good sisters and share so much of our national history.
These book club sessions I do are interactive and the attendees tell their own heartwarming and hilarious stories too. We learned of one member’s father’s time at a POW in a German camp during WWII. Another with family issues around addiction and we discussed corporal punishment in the 1950s along with our post war Baby Boomer upbringings.
The Mouseketeers played a huge role in my imagination and hopes and dreams. A couple women felt the same as me re Annette Funicello, and also some shared our adoration for Hayley Mills. We talked about dreams of going to college and our interactions with the nuns, some good, some not so good.
The compassion shown to my family situation by the book clubbers melted my heart. They even understood the “butter knives” incident. Their insights into WHAT HAPPENED TO DAD AND HOW IT AFFECTED HIM were so well thought out and of the highest level of analysis.
When we spoke of childhood hopes and dreams one story had us all riveted. She loved horses and so much wanted to ride. There was no money for a horse so she read about horses all the time. She even joined the equestrian club, with no horse to ride, but that did not stop her from being a club member in good standing for a long time.
To my dear Royal Court, we must dream big, even when the horse is nowhere in sight.
